Mitchell had so many celebrations to mark his 4th birthday, he started thinking every day should be filled with gifts! It all started with his Shark Pool Party! We invited some friends to Grammy and Grandaddy's pool to swim. Never mind that the weather had finally cooled off and we had to turn the pool heater on to make it comfortable for everyone to swim! (As a side note, that makes 2 of the 4 August birthday parties in the 80's...Unheard of!). It was a beautiful day and we all had a great time.

The next day, we had a pool pizza party with family. While Allen slept through the prior day's party, he was able to enjoy this one with the rest of us. And we were glad to have him since he usually naps during our swimming time. Mitchell got MORE gifts, to include a huge inflateable "shark" for the pool, a new water gun and a transformer! The boy was in heaven.

Of course, we couldn't let the official day go by with out some fun as well. Mitchell took icecream sandwiches into school for his birthday snack. Gramps came over with a pile of goodies and we had another haul of gifts from family that had sent them. I swear, it looked like Christmas! I attempted to make him pause to appreciate how much everyone loved him, but I think my message was lost. The kid just wanted to open presents (we'll need to work on that as we approach the holidays, I think!) We ended our celebration with a gourmet dinner of peanut butter and jelly with a side of peas and corn.
