Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend (which seems like an eternity ago, for the record) we took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed out to one of the area pumpkin patches. Not only were there pumpkins to pick out, but a great play area for the kids. Mitchell had a grand old time. Allen did too, but it took him awhile to warm up, and then he was just frustrated when he couldn't do what Mitchell did.

Early on, Allen found this questionable half ear of corn. Amazingly, he never tried to put it in his mouth, but he didn't want to let it go for quite some time. Perhaps it provided some security during big bother's climbing adventures!

King of the Hay Mountain!

All four of us had quite a bit of fun in the corn maze. Allen was slow, so lots of people passed us, but we didn't care. At one point, we came upon an abandoned tractor. Mitchell thought he'd pedal it out, but then as we continually got stuck in ruts, we decided to abandon it as well! Which way to go? Mitchell made quite a game of finding the dead end where were were "locked" from going any further. By the end, he had it right, saying we were "BBBBBlocked."

Allen had fun times swinging and climbing and checking out the goats. One of my all time favorite pictures of Mitchell is from the same pumpkin patch at the same age. Mitchell was playing in the hay pen. Allen wanted nothing to do with it- only more proof I have two very different boys!

After our hay ride around the farm, Mitchell went for a spin in the giant tire swing. Pretty cool. Looking back, I should've taken a turn!

Last but not least, we let Mitchell take a few shots with the corn gun. He did awesome and actaully almost hit a target! Amazingly, we still had energy to pick out our pumpkins. Mitchell found his favorite right off the bat. He wants to carve it, but knows we need to wait a few days so it won' t get all shrivelled up! We put a few decorations out for fun this weekend and will carve next weekend. Of course, both boys' costumes still need finishing touches!
