We Gobbled Up Thanksgiving!

We were in town this year for Thanksgiving and had a pretty low key weekend. Mitchell was most excited about the fact that there were more home days than school days (and Mom and Dad felt the same way)! We headed to Grammy and Grandaddy's for a quiet, relaxing dinner where were we were joined by Jeremy's Uncle Jim and Nanny.

Mitchell, first in line for the buffet!
The Wednesday before our "four home days," Mitchell picked out one of his dress shirts to wear to school. He carefully put it on and was so pleased with himself. He wanted to look nice for his teachers and Thanksgiving. On Thursday, he wanted to put on his "Thanksgiving clothes" as soon as he woke up...even the promise of staying in pajamas didn't keep him out of those clothes. He was super excited to say the least. Dinner was delicious and we all left stuffed. Allen didn't care for it much- which makes me wonder how he belongs to us. There's much to love about Thanksgiving dinner. As Jeremy and I spend our 9th Thanksgiving together as a married couple, I have to say that I really enjoy that our favorite Thanksgiving dishes come from both sides of our family, and one or two of our own! I didn't love sweet potatoes like I do now until I had Nanny's Sweet Potatoes! (Yet, Allen spit them out- really? Maybe he just had too many crackers).
Brothers playing legos. Before the throwing contest began.

Thanksgiving fueled me for my first Black Friday shopping experience. A friend came to pick me up at 10 and we hit Walmart (crazy people, quick lines), Toys R U (hot people, full carts, LONG lines) and Target (where were the people...oh they were all in line). I didn't have much on my list, because we were still holding out on getting MJ the LeapPad, which is now nearly sold out everywhere! I did pick up a few things that had good prices, so I think we can safely say the boys are about done. However, while eating my 4am snack (when I got home from shopping). I did find the precious LeapPad in stock at Amazon for regular price (not insanely marked up!). I snatched it quick and went to bed stoked about the overall shopping experience. That said, I'm not sure I need to do it again.

Tonight at dinner, I asked Mitchell what his favorite part of Thanksgiving weekend was. After a few ums and uhs, he answered "that I loved everyone." Well, that about sums it up, doesn't it?

The rest of the weekend was spent lazing around doing laundry and dishes (seriously, these never end!). I gave up on cleaning the house as Allen insisted on carrying toys room to room and then throwing them to see what kinds of sound they would make or reactions we would give him. At least we can get Mitchell to help clean up his messes!

Overall, a great holiday, with more to come this season!
